Non-Dom Qualification Checker
Check whether you qualify as non-domiciled in Cyprus, and what it is worth on your investment income
Rates updated: August 2026
Broadly, the country your father was domiciled in when you were born — not simply where you were born or now live.
Reaching 17 years within the last 20 means you are treated as domiciled.
You appear to qualify as non-domiciled
Both tests are met: your domicile of origin is outside Cyprus, and you have been Cyprus tax resident for 0 of the last 20 years — under the 17-year threshold.
On current residency you have 17 more years of non-dom status before you are treated as domiciled.
What non-dom status is worth to you
The rates behind this
- • Dividends: 7.65% total as domiciled (5% SDC + 2.65% GHS), 2.65% as non-dom
- • Interest: 19.65% total as domiciled (17% SDC + 2.65% GHS), 2.65% as non-dom
- • Income tax on both: 0% — dividends and interest are outside the progressive bands entirely
- • GHS is never exempt: non-dom removes SDC only
Domicile is a legal concept that turns on family history, not just residence, and 2026 rules are applied here in simplified form. Treat this as a screening tool and confirm your position with an advisor.
